Accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of weakening the democracy in the country, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati today averred that the ‘dictatorship’ of the ruling party was prevailing in the country and it had gone far beyond the emergency days of the Congress.

“The leaders of opposition parties are being targeted in the name of black money and corruption. On the other hand, they (the ruling party) are covering up allegations against their own people,” she alleged while addressing thousands of BSP workers from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh at the Lal Parade Ground here today afternoon.

“The central agencies specially CBI, Income Tax and ED are being wrongly used to weaken and finish the opposition to make the country opposition free,” Mayawati said.

Anticipating that the next general elections might be held early, the former UP CM said that the BJP might use the ‘Hindutva’ plank to gain votes. She also said that the Ram Mandir could be built at Ayodhya to strengthen the Hindutva vote base.

“To cover up failure of its central and state governments, BJP can make Hindutva, the plank in the general elections, and the work of building Ram Mandir would begin in Ayodhaya,” the BSP Chief said.

The BSP workers felicitated Mayawati by presenting her a silver sword and a golden crown in a silver plate.

“People in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have made up their mind to throw away the BJP governments,” she said.

“Keeping this in mind do not sit quite. Go home, start work and strengthen our party,” she told her party workers.

“The BJP can play tricks in the name of patriotism to win elections and weaken the BSP,” she cautioned her cadre.
