The Uttarakhand Government will reclaim the cost of government properties destroyed during riots and violent protests from the accused persons.
The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushakar Singh Dhami today ratified the government’s decision to prepare a draft for ordinance to constitute a ‘Claim Tribunal’ in this regard.
The State Home Department will prepare draft for the ordinance, which is likely to be issued by the government after the Lok Sabha polls.
Chief Minister Dhami said the Cabinet has approved the constitution of a special ‘Claim Tribunal’ with the objective of taking strict action against rioters.
He said the compensation for the damage to public property caused during the riots will be recovered from the rioters themselves.
Those who disturb the peace will have to pay a heavy price. The state will set an example in this regard, said Chief Minister Dhami.
