The Jammu and Kashmir government has shunted out the DGP (Prisons) SK Mishra and appointed Dilbagh Singh, commandant General Home Guards, in his place. The transfer orders were issued last yesterday evening by the state cabinet that met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mehbooba mufti.

Mishra’s shifting is a fallout of the escape of a Pakistani terrorist Naveed Jatt in Srinagar after killing two policemen that has embarrassed the PDP-BJP government. The terrorist escaped when he was taken from the jail to the hospital for treatment.

Mishra has been appointed on the insignificant post of managing director of police housing corporation.

The government, earlier during the day suspended the superintendent of Srinagar Central Jail.

ADGP Munir Khan said that two terrorists had frequently been meeting the Pakistani terrorist in the jail in a bid to finalise the conspiracy to get him freed. During interrogation, the two terrorists told the police that they were in touch with the Pakistani terrorist on mobile phone inside the jail.

SP Pani has been appointed Inspector General of police, Kashmir Range, in place of Munir Khan, ADGP.

The BJP that is sharing power with the PDP has raised questions on the broad day escape of the Pakistani prisoner. The BJP has pointed fingers at involvement of bigwigs in the conspiracy.

The BJP spokesman, Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta has questioned that why was Naveed shifted from the Kathua jail in Jammu to Srinagar and under what circumstances were such orders issued by the court. Why were the other terrorists allowed to meet him inside the jail to hatch the conspiracy.

Gupta asked that who facilitated interaction of the Pakistani terrorist on mobile phone from inside the jail with his accomplices outside and why was he not attended by the doctor inside the jail. Why has the police not registered a FIR against the black sheep inside the jail who were involved in such firstever conspiracy.
