The 30th Zakir Husain Memorial Lecture was delivered by Shakti Sinha, director of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, on the topic ‘Challenges of Technological Change’ on 6 April.

Sinha spoke of the vast impact of technology in people’s daily lives. He underlined how technological changes have caused the disappearance of many existing professions while generating new job opportunities. He stressed on the need for people to upgrade themselves to deal with these changes.

Prof Sunil Chaudhary, who chaired the session, opined that technology should be used as an instrument of not supplanting but supplementing humanity. Dr Ratnum Wattal, convener of the memorial lecture organising committee, offered the vote of thanks.

The Zakir Husain Memorial Lecture is a flagship event of the college that was instituted 29 years ago in memory of Dr Zakir Husain. Eminent academicians, including Prof Andre Bettielle, Prof Romila Thapar, Prof Prabhat Patnaik, among others, have delivered the annual lecture.
