Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the ruling dispensation at the Centre of creating hurdles in the way of implementing the water bill settlement scheme in favour of the households issued inflated and faulty bills.
Addressing AAP workers protesting against the BJP over its non-cooperation in the settlement of the water bills at the party office here on Sunday, Kejriwal accused the BJP of stopping officers from implementing the one-time settlement scheme using intimidatory tactics.
He assured Delhiites that the faulty water bills would be waived off within 15 days if the INDIA bloc wins all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. “If you choose the INDIA bloc this time, Delhi will have its own defence armour and nobody can trouble the people then. No LG will then be able to harm the people of Delhi since we’ll have a strong representation in the Parliament,” he said.
Pointing out that he has hardly seen any of the elected seven representatives raising the real concerns of Delhi in the Parliament, the chief minister said, “Once you give these seven seats to us, I promise you that the erroneously inflated water bills will be waived off within 15 days of the Lok Sabha Elections.
Kejriwal told the people of Delhi that they do not have to pay these faulty bills. “You can tear and burn these bills right in front of BJP officials, I’m standing with you,” the Delhi CM assured.
He accused the BJP of trying to hinder construction of schools and hospitals in Delhi as they did not want the poor children belonging to the underprivileged section to get quality education. When the BJP was in power at the MCD they tried to bulldoz Mohalla clinics, but the AAP did not deter from building 100 more such clinics.
Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned the BJP about the logic behind stopping the scheme being brought by an elected chief minister, who has been chosen by the people of Delhi.
