Two sharpshooters of Bihar-based gang nabbed in Delhi

In the ongoing crackdown against heinous crimes and criminals, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two wanted sharpshooters associated with the Bihar-based Rajan Sahani-Manoj Sahani gang, the police said on Saturday.

One of the accused identified as Chandan was wanted in the case of a murder of East Champaran and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 announced by the Bihar Police.

The Special Cell had received inputs regarding the two Bihar-based criminals hiding in Delhi and also about extortion calls made by them to businessmen.

On February 7, the duo, who were about to arrive at Gandhi Vihar in Mukherjee Nagar, was finally traced.

A police team intercepted them at around 9.30 pm and asked them to surrender. Instead, they whipped out loaded pistols and aimed at the police party in a bid to escape. However, they were overpowered by the police before they could open fire.

The two handguns with live rounds in their possession were seized by the police and a case under relevant sections of law was registered against them.

It was found that the accused Chandan has 19 criminal cases registered against him, while the other accused, Sunder, was involved in one case registered at Bihar’s Turkaulia.

Meanwhile, a senior police official said coordinated raids were conducted by the team of the Special Cell’s Southern Range on the suspected hideouts of the accused persons in the areas of Delhi, the National Capital Region, and also Uttar Pradesh as they executed all possible ways to evade being caught by the police.

They are said to have constantly changed their mobile numbers and hideouts to avoid arrest.
