Trial run to ensure safety measures began on Friday on the 6.8-km Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City Metro corridor. The corridor is an extension of Dwarka Sector 21–Noida City Centre Blue Line.
The entire extension of the corridor is elevated. The new stations that shall be added are Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Electronic City.
The trial run, said an official, was being carried out to ensure that there was no physical blockage during the movement of the train on the track. He added that signalling trials would begin soon.
In addition, monitoring of trains at different speeds would be done. That shall include braking system and interconnection with the operations control centre (OCC). The track system and the overhead electrification would be checked repeatedly during the trial, the official said.

The deadline for completion of the extension of corridor was September. However, construction was a major challenge with the corridor running close to the busy NH 24, the official explained.
The corridor has been constructed on the central verge and passes through busy and congested residential as well as commercial areas of Noida.
After the corridor becomes operational, it would become DMRC’s third Metro link in Noida — Noida Sector 15-Noida City Centre and Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj being the other two.
After opening of the 6.8-km long section, the Blue Line (Line 3) will measure 56.73 km to become the second longest corridor of Delhi Metro after the Majlis Park–Shiv Vihar section (Pink Line), which is 59 km long.
Meanwhile, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) project to link Noida and Greater Noida (Aqua Line) is expected to be inaugurated in January. Noida’s Sector 62 is a busy commercial area with a number of commercial establishments and offices. The opening of Aqua Line is expected to reduce travel time for people commuting between Delhi and Noida.
