Slapped by youth, 58-year-old man dies in hospital in N-W Delhi

A man died after he was slapped by a youth in the Mahendra Park area of North-West Delhi after an altercation over some issue.  The deceased has been identified as Saudan Singh, 58, whose body has been sent to a mortuary for postmortem.

A case has been registered under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder at the Mahendra Park police station and the accused has been taken into custody. The matter is being investigated by the police.

According to the police, a youth, Devkinandan, 20, resident of Jahangirpuri, stated that he works at the Saudan Singh’s eatery near a police booth located at DDA market.

It is said that on Tuesday at about 5:30 pm, Saudan Singh was sitting near his eatery when a youth came in a blue car and started abusing him. An altercation started between them, following which the youth slapped Singh multiple times and left.

However, in a short while, the accused returned and slapped Saudan Singh again before fleeing the spot. Meanwhile, Saudan’s sons Jagdish and Keshav reached there and took their father to a nearby hospital as his condition deteriorated after getting the beatings. He died in the hospital.

According to hospital sources, there is a possibility of bursting of veins of the deceased due to hard slap. A postmortem report is awaited.
