An absconding gangster of the notorious Neeraj Bawana- Naveen Bali gang has been arrested from Naraina in south west Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Sahil, has previously been involved in eight criminal cases of attempt to murder, robbery, dacoit, hurt, and criminal intimidation, across Delhi and the NCR, they said.
He was most recently wanted in a shootout case at west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden.
“A single-shot pistol was seized from his possession. When confronted by police, he had whipped out the pistol, and aimed at the cops. He, however, was overpowered by the police personnel,” a police official said.
The police received information about the accused’s arrival near the bus depot at Pandav Nagar Colony, Naraina, on Monday to meet an associate. A trap was laid and he was arrested.
According to police, Sahil is an active member of the Neeraj Bawana-Naveen Bali gang, and provides logistics and financial help to the members. He is also very close to Jahangirpuri’s Mukesh alias Bhola, who is a key member of this syndicate.
In December last year, Sahil along with his six others fired gunshots at a club in Rajouri Garden. Two of the culprits had been arrested in the case, while others, including him, were on the run, police added.
