The Delhi State Election Commission has issued instructions regarding identification of voters on the day of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) poll on Sunday.
All electors to whom Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) have been issued, will have to produce these to cast their votes at the polling stations for the election to 250 MCD wards.
However, the electors to whom such EPIC have not been issued or whose EPIC have been lost or misplaced will be allowed to cast vote on production of Aadhar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Passbook with photograph issued by bank or Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central or State Government, public sector undertakings or public limited companies and official identity cards issued to MPs,MLAs, MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment.
Any of these documents that is available only to the head of the family, may be used for identifying other members of the family, provided all members come together to be identified by the head of the family.
As per the Clause 2 (M) of Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2001, the Ration Card will not be admitted as document of identity.
All the voters for the General Election in Delhi are advised to carry with them the voter identity card, or any of these documents while going to cast their votes.
