A 36-years-old man was charred to death in West Delhi, when a major fire broke out in a shoe factory located at Madipur village on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Harjeeta, who hailed from Kolakha, Agra.
His body has been preserved at the mortuary of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Punjabi Bagh police station and investigation has been initiated. Police are trying to ascertain the truth about the factory owner for legal actions.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi), Ghanshyam Bansal said that a PCR call was received at the police station on Thursday at about 8 in the morning regarding a fire incident at a shoe factory located at Madipur Village, Delhi.
Police team along with the fire brigade reached the spot and efforts to douse the fire started. The police team vacated the premises during the incident.
Meanwhile, as the fire tenders doused the fire, a thorough search was made at the above premises, during which, a dead body in totally burnt condition was recovered from the 4th floor of the building.
After the identification of the deceased, the body was shifted to the hospital.
According to the police, the cause of the fire and owner of the factory are still being ascertained. Legal action will be taken after finding out the owner of the factory.
