Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pink Line Metro corridor to open on 31 December

Delhi Metro’s Pink Line from Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket 1, stretching 9.7 km, will be open for commuters from 31 December. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has given the mandatory approval for the commencement of passenger operations on the Pink Line Metro corridor.

Union Minister of State for Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia will inaugurate the section and Metro will start operating from 4 pm.

This corridor is part of the Pink Line connecting Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. Last week, the CMRS had carried out an inspection to check safety measures.

The stations on the corridor include Lajpat Nagar, Vinobapuri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1. The last two named are elevated stations.

The 59-km Pink Line is part of Phase-III project of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Besides, Delhi Metro is set to open the 9.4-km stretch from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda Extension of the Red Line and the 29.7-km long Aqua Line of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) soon.

Next week, CMRS will carry out an safety inspection on Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda Extension corridor.

After the corridor becomes operational, the Red Line will be connected with some interior parts of Ghaziabad. This corridor will pass through Sahibabad Industrial Area and connect many peripheral areas of Delhi.

The Aqua Line will connect Greater Noida and Noida.

The DMRC now boasts of 231 stations, with an average daily ridership of about 28 lakh.
