AAP leader Atishi on Wednesday said the recent ED raids on her party colleagues is part of a larger conspiracy to undermine Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the party.
Addressing a press conference, she said the agency sleuths landed up at the premises of Kejriwal’s Personal Secretary Bibhav Kumar, party treasurer N D Gupta and others, without any written reference to any ECIR (enforcement case information report) or ongoing case investigation, and remained there for long hours.
“During the 16-hour raid at the chief minister’s personal secretary residence, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials did not conduct any thorough search, nor did they provide any explanation regarding the purpose/case of the raid. They just sat in his living room. This peculiar raid may be the first-of-its kind in the history of the ED, where officials carried out a prolonged raid without documenting the specific case or purpose for the action,” she alleged.
Expressing concern over the ED’s conduct, Atishi asserted that these raids are part of a larger conspiracy to undermine the chief minister and AAP leaders. She said the real motive behind these actions is to stifle Kejriwal’s voice as he stands out as a “capable political leader”.
She further alleged that, “ED is selectively targeting AAP leaders and individuals associated with Kejriwal. ED first decides on individuals to be put behind bars before determining the charges against them. Their agenda is clearly to suppress dissent and eliminate key figures within the party”.
