A criminal carrying a bounty of on his head was shot dead in Noida’s Sector 41 on Monday morning. Identified as Balraj Bhati, the gangster was killed in a joint operation conducted by the police of three states – Uttar Pradesh Haryana and Delhi.
Bhati was cornered along with his two accomplices near a Bikanerwala sweets shop in the area after a chase by the STF.
According to reports, the gangster, who once associated with gangster Sunder Bhati, and his men fired at the police when the latter intercepted the criminals at the traffic crossing in Sector 49/41.
They attempted to escape in a car before it crashed near a footpath. The criminals took off on foot. Bhati reportedly scaled a wall and reached the terrace of the restaurant. As he fired at the cops, the police retaliated.
A critically injured Bhati was reportedly rushed to a district hospital where he was declared brought dead. His two associates managed to flee the area.
According to reports, the encounter also left two head constables of the Haryana Police’s STF, a man and a boy injured in the firing. A pistol was recovered from the spot.
Wanted in several cases of land grabbing, theft and murder, Bulandshahr resident Bhati operated mainly in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana.
