Delhi: Son asks for momos, drunk father throws him in canal

A six-year-old boy’s demand to eat momos claimed his life as his drunk father threw him in Agra canal near South Delhi’s Jaitpur.

Sanjay Alwi, who was in an inebriated condition, allegedly threw his son in the Agra Canal as he was crying and demanding momos, police said. The incident occurred on Saturday.

During investigation, it was found that Sanjay had come to Khadar Puliya with his six-year-old son.

Irked by his son’s crying and persistent demand to eat momos, Alwi threw his son into the canal from the Khadar Puliya.

The police were informed by a passerby, who saw Alwi throwing the child into the canal.

Local divers were arranged by police, fire brigade, rescue team, disaster team were called and operation to rescue the boy, but could not succeed due to lack of natural light.

However, the rescue teams recovered the body of the child from the canal on Sunday.

The accused, an e-rickshaw driver, has been arrested by the police.
