An integrated M Phil and PhD course student from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been reported missing for the last four days. An FIR has been registered in the case.

The 26-year-old JNU student Pooja Kasna, a resident of Ghaziabad, was last in contact with her parents on 10 March.

As per media reports, Kasna’s parents have told the police that their daughter was living in one of the University’s hostels on the campus and, during their last interaction, they were told by her that she was going out for dinner and will return late.

However, next day her phone was switched off/unreachable prompting her parents to visit the hostel, where they found her hostel room locked.

A case has been registered under section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Indian Panel Code (IPC). An investigation has been initiated in the case.

Kasna’s disappearance comes near to another disappearance case of a JNU student in 2017.

Najeeb Ahmad a first-year student of M.Sc Biotechnology at JNU went missing from the varsity’s campus on 15 October after indulging in an alleged brawl with a few ABVP members.

However, the ABVP, the student wing of the BJP, had denied any involvement in the disappearance of Najeeb, 27, an M.Sc first-year student.

On May 16, the High Court had asked the CBI to probe the case of Ahmed, who went missing after an alleged altercation with some Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members at a JNU hostel.

The court has been hearing a habeas corpus plea filed by Fatima Nafees, Najeeb Ahmed’s mother, that her son be produced by police and the Delhi government before the court.
