A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its first chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday filed its first prosecution complaint in the case before the Rouse Avenue Court.
The ED chargesheet running over 3,000 pages names businessman Sameer Mahendru.
There are allegations that Arun Ramchandra Pillai, a resident of Kokapet in Hyderabad, used to collect undue pecuniary advantage from Mahendru for onward transmission to accused public servants through Vijay Nair.
The ED’s case is based on an FIR filed by the CBI.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s name did not find any mention in the ED’s chargesheet.
Reacting to the ED’s chargesheet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet said, “After CBI, ED gives clean chit to Manish Sisodia. Shouldn’t PM Modi apologise to the country for implicating Manish Sisodia, the man who made India famous in the world through the education revolution, in a false case?”
Meanwhile, Sisodia in a tweet said, “It is a matter of great pride for me that even after all the conspiracies no one has been able to prove their allegations against me. CBI and ED’s chargesheets have proven that there was no liquor scam in Delhi.”
Addressing mediapersons after the Deputy Chief Minister’s name did not find any mention in the CBI’s first chargesheet filed on Friday in the Delhi excise policy scam case, Kejriwal today said, “CBI filed the chargesheet yesterday. Manish Sisodia’s name is not there. CBI has given clean chit to him. CBI and ED were working day and night to frame Sisodia but could not find even an iota of evidence against him.”
On Friday, the CBI filed its first chargesheet in the Delhi excise policy case naming seven accused persons — Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpally, Sameer Mahendru, Arun Ramchandra Pillai, Mootha Gautham, and two public servants — then Deputy Commissioner in the Excise Department, Kuldeep Singh, and then Assistant Commissioner in the Excise Department, Narender Singh.
The CBI chargesheet filed before the Rouse Avenue Court mentioned that further investigation to find out the possible involvement of more public servants and others is underway.
