The man, who abducted and raped a 4-year-old girl in Outer North Delhi before throwing her into the bushes in a critical condition, has been eventually arrested on Tuesday, after a long chase.
The accused has been identified as Anil Pathak, who resides at some distance from the house of the victim girl. He is being interrogated by the police.
According to the police, the accused has been found with no previous criminal record.
A police official said that the shocking incident took place on the evening of December 21, when the 4-year-old victim girl went missing, while playing outside her house.
The family and the relatives tried to search for her, but they couldn’t find her.
Later, the information was passed to the Bhalswa Dairy Police Station, where on the statement of the family members a case of kidnapping was registered.
During the investigation, the police team analysed all the CCTV cameras installed in the area and technical surveillance was mounted. While analysing the CCTV footage, it was found that a man took the girl with him. Based on the CCTV footage, a search for the suspect was initiated.
Meanwhile, information received at the police station, about the girl found lying in the bushes near lake in an injured condition. Family along with police reached the spot and she was rushed to a hospital for treatment. In the hospital, the doctors confirmed about the incident of rape.
Operation to nab the accused was launched by the Outer-North District police. After several kilometres of chase and continuous raids at the accused’s possible hideouts, the police team succeeded in nabbing the accused eventually from his locality.
During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that he used to work as a commercial driver and was looking out for the girl for the past many days. He had the idea that the child used to play alone outside her house, as he had kept a close watch on her activity for the past some days.
