The elections for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Delhi were held on January 30. Dr Tapan Bihari has been elected as the State President, while Harsh Attri has been re-elected as the State Secretary, announced Sushri Nidhi Tripathi, the election officer.
Dr. Tapan Bihari hails from Jajpur, Odisha, and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has been an active member of ABVP since 2001 and held the responsibility of State Vice President of the ABVP Delhi from 2018 to 2021.
While, Attri, who hails from Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh, has been a member of the ABVP since 2015. He has completed his LLB from Delhi University’s Faculty of Law and is currently a postgraduate student in Buddhist Studies department at Delhi University. He has held various responsibilities in ABVP including District Co-convener, Vibhag Co- Convener and National Executive Member. Attri is said to be a crucial contributor in the victory of ABVP during the 2023 Delhi University Students’ Union Elections.
As per the officials of the organisation, both of the newly elected office bearers would assume their responsibilities, for the forthcoming year, during the ABVP Delhi State Conference to be held on 4th February 2024 at JNU.
Meanwhile, last year the Parishad marked the 75th anniversary of its establishment and held the 69th National Conference on December 8th at the ‘Indraprastha Nagar’ tent city in Burari, New Delhi, which was attended by more than 10,000 students across the country.
