Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Saturday claimed that the statement to the press issued by the Services Department on the outcome report of Lieutenant Governor was actually released from the L-G’s office and thus it proved that the recent strike by officers working for the Delhi government and the concomitant refusal of officers to attend meetings took place with the blessings of the L-G.

“Otherwise how else would a press release from the office of the L-G, openly admit that officers are not attending meetings which is an open violation of service rules,” the Delhi government statement read.

Two days after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented the ‘outcome report’ on the L-G office highlighting 50 per cent vacancies in key departments, the Services Department on Friday alleged the data ed a “distorted and incorrect” picture about service matters.

The statement said while the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister had repeatedly written to the L-G asking him to ensure that officers attended meetings, there was no response from him.

“With this press release it is now obvious, why the L-G has not been trying to resolve the situation or taking action against officers violating service rules,” it said.

The Delhi government said that in the press release, the Services Department did not talk about any plans to fill the vacancies in the Delhi Government and rather chose to beat around the bush.

“It is very surprising that the Department of Services has chosen to ignore its core duties in a press release issued on the directions of its political masters. And despite a public statement loaded with political intent, the department has not bothered to talk about its core duties of filling up the mountain of vacancies,” the statement said.
