AAP is BJP’s biggest challenger: Delhi CM

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that even if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins the 2024 General Elections, the Aam Aadmi Party will free the country from the saffron party in 2029.

Kejriwal was speaking on the Motion of Confidence being discussed in the Delhi Assembly on Saturday, which was moved by him on Friday during the budget session.

Delhi CM said that the AAP is the BJP’s biggest challenger and the same was the reason as to why the party was under attack.

He said that the BJP is afraid of AAP and this is the reason they want to break the party.

The Motion of Confidence was passed through a voice vote of 54 AAP MLAs, who were present during the session.

The AAP chief said that none of their MLAs defected, while two were behind the bars, some unwell and some of the party’s legislators were not in the city.

The AAP has a total of 62 MLAs in the House.

He said that despite having a majority in the house, the government needed to bring the motion of confidence due to attempt by the saffron party to topple the AAP government by trying to poach AAP MLAs.

The AAP has become country’s third largest party after the BJP and the Congress, he said, adding the AAP had applied for its registration on November 26, 2012.

In a very short span of time the AAP has gained immense popularity and has governments in Delhi and Punjab .

The AAP convener also took a dig at those politicians who succumb to pressure and switch sides, stating that honest ones are those who resist despite all pressure and consequences.
