In an effort to implement the directives of the model code of conduct (MCC) for assembly election, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday stated that it has removed a total of 1.26 lakh posters, banners, hoardings, and small boards across its 12 zones.
The model code of conduct came into effect from yesterday after the Election commission unveiled the dates of Delhi Assembly polls. The national capital will vote for all 70 assembly seats on February 5 and the result will come out on February 8.
As per the civic agency, this includes 13,496 hoardings, 1, 03,687 posters, banners and wall paintings, 1158 signage boards and 7845 flags.
According to the EC’s order, any kind of poster, hoarding or banner in a public place which promotes any political party or leader has to be removed within 24 hours of the election schedule announcement.
