Parents of a 16-year-old gangrape victim in Delhi allegedly took money from the men accused of raping their daughter and coaxed the victim to change her statement in court.

On 10 April, the rape survivor approached the police with help from her neighbours, following which a case was registered.

The victim’s parents have been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act and for criminal intimidation, threatening someone to give false evidence and criminal conspiracy.

While the mother of the girl has been arrested, her father is on the run.

The girl claimed that her parents have already received advance payment of Rs 5 lakh, which she produced in front of the police.

According to media reports, the girl also claimed that when she refused to listen to her parents, they beat her up.

The girl had gone missing in August last year after which her parents had filed a police complaint. She returned after a week and told police that she was held captive by two men who raped her. The two men were arrested.
