The Delhi unit of Congress on Monday took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for an alleged complete ban on firecrackers in the city, saying Environment Minister Gopal Rai is misleading the people by not addressing the real cause of air pollution.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav said the firecrackers are not the only contributor to pollution in the capital city but along with them dust from broken roads, construction sites, and vehicular emissions are also equally responsible. The government has failed to take action against such offenders.

He added that the Delhi Congress has been repeatedly pointing out for the past years that the government is not addressing the real causes of the Capital’s air pollution, and whatever steps it took in the past had not provided a lasting solution to the city’s toxic air.

Yadav claimed that when Congress was in power in Punjab, Kejriwal blamed stubble burning in the state for causing pollution, but when AAP came to power in Punjab, they stopped blaming Punjab and have now started blaming Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for the same.
