Dalai Lama returns to Dharamshala after European visit

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Wednesday returned to Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh after his four European nations visit.

“Little bit tired, now I think time come, old person need more rest,” he said upon his arrival at Gaggal airport where he was welcomed by Central Tibetan Administration president Lobsang Sangay.

Dalai Lama visited Sweden, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland on 11 to 25 September as part of his four nations Europe tour. During his interactions on European nations’ tour, Dalai Lama reiterated Tibetans’ long cherished dream of returning to Tibet and they are even willing to remain within the People’s Republic of China.

Though he said Tibetans were ready to live Chinese control, given China respects Tibetan distinct culture and autonomy. He suggested ways to end conflicts around the world and said the remedy to reduce conflict in the name of religion is to have convictions in basic human values and moral ethics without touching religion. He further called on for modern education system to incorporate these values in their education.

He called for training of mind for focused and calm mind and advocated the importance of love, compassion and above all basic human values against the emotional crisis facing the world today.

He condemned the futility of discriminating ones culture, religion and community that results in classification of us and them. Such dividing factors undermine the inherent basic human nature which is compassion.
