Accusing Narendra Modi-led at Centre of treating the state of Haryana unfairly, Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda on Wednesday alleged that development works worth Rs.1 lakh Crore approved during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime, either shifted to other destinations or overlooked by the present Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule.

He also showed a number of papers proving that a Cargo Airport to cater increasing flying requirements for people in the National Capital Region (NCR) was proposed for Haryana but now relocated to the Uttar Pradesh (UP) where the BJP has formed government recently.

Deepender Hooda said that during the previous regime, Rohtak's Meham was chosen for building the second airport in the NCR but the Centre government recently approved the same for Jewar in Greater Noida in UP.

He said, "Involving an investment of Rs.20,000 Crore, the airport was proposed for Meham. After, inspection, no objection certificate from the Ministry of Defence, the central team had forwarded the Feasibility Report to the Ministry of Civil Aviation which was accepted in January 2014. However, a few months after the BJP came to the power and no development took place on the project which was aimed to provide employment nearly one lakh youths. And now, the airport has been gifted to the UP."

Whenever, I tried to raise the issue in the Parliament the BJP minister said that refused any such proposal, he added.

Hooda said, "60 per cent of the NCR area falls in Haryana and it was Haryana's right to have that cargo airport, but despite giving slogan of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Barat, the BJP government is treating Haryana unfairly. Earlier, rail coach factory proposed for Sonipat in Haryana was also given to Kerala. Similarly, no progress has taken place at Defence University proposed in Gurugram district."

Further accusing Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP rule in Haryana of lacking commitment in bringing and sustaining the development in the state, Hooda said, "In nearly three-year-long term, the present government not only failed to bring any such project in the state but also failed to sustain those are already proposed for Haryana."

Hooda urged Khattar to take appointment from Prime Minister Modi on the issue and leading an all-party delegation to take up the matter in the state's interest.
