Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said here that the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is in a state of chaos.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he said holding Cabinet meetings twice in a single day, where all ministers are not able to attend reflects the state of confusion the ruling party is in.

Accusing the chief minister of giving away cabinet ranks like freebies and ignoring the public interest to appease the dissidents, Jai Ram Thakur said, “On one hand, the government is complaining of the financial crisis, on the other, imposing undue burden of crores of rupees on the people of the state by distributing cabinet ranks.”

The situation of the Congress government can be gauged from the manner the chief minister is appeasing his party leaders, he pointed out.

A notification is issued appointing an MLA as chief whip. However in the gazette, his appointment is made as Deputy Chief Whip, he said. “When there was an opportunity to serve the public, the government remained busy enjoying the power instead of working for public welfare. Now, just before the Lok Sabha elections, the government is once again trying to cheat the common people by announcing schemes without budget provisions,” he charged.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Sukhu for diligently trying to pacify his disgruntled leaders, he said that had the chief minister looked after the interests of the people of the state, the situation would have been different.

Today, the situation is such that neither the Congress leaders nor the people of the state are satisfied, he added.

Despite repeated complaints about the economic plight of the state, Sukhu is busy raising an army of advisors, he said. The youth have been agitating against the government for one and a half years demanding jobs, however, the chief minister is adjusting his private secretaries as advisors after retirement, he said, adding this makes it clear that the chief minister is only to enjoy the power and accommodate his favourites.

Thakur said the job of the chief minister is to ensure the welfare of the people of the state and to take the state forward while Sukhu has nothing to do with the interests neither of the state nor of the people of the state.

“The Congress government has been completely exposed and this time in the Lok Sabha elections, the people of the state are ready to give reply to the false guarantees given to them,” he declared. The people of the state Himachal Pradesh will again elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the third consecutive time by ensuring BJP’s victory in all four Lok Sabha seats with an overwhelming majority as they trust only the guarantees of Narendra Modi.
