Congress party on Saturday demanded white paper on distribution of funds under Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) funds, an entitlement per Member of Parliament (MP) constituency.

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) General Secretary and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Harshwardhan Chauhan alleged discrimination in distribution of funds by the BJP MPs and sought for details of the MPLADs funds distribution per constituency.

He said that this is part of the Congress party’s “Jawaab de Sansad, Hisaab de Sansad” (MPs give accountability) campaign and their contribution to the state in the last four years.

“Though the MPs are fuming on the accountability being sought by Congress but they should understand that they were elected by the people of the state and the party has every right to seek accountability from them,” he said.

Alleging the MPs of ignoring and discriminating various areas in the state, he said, “We want to seek the details to know how much they have spent in the constituencies in the state. Our MPs have failed miserably in taking up the issues with the Centre that include railway line expansion, Industrial package extension, and financial package.”

He alleged that rampant transfers of government employees (around 20,000 in the last 50 days) were done by the BJP after coming into power.

These include 500 transfer’s of officials of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HAS), Himachal Pradesh Police Services (HPS) and other Class I and Class II officers.
“As many as 10,000 Demi Official (DO) letters have been issued from the Chief Minister office to the various departments,” he said, adding the development and progress is affected due to the mass transfers.
