A non-teaching staff of a private owned CBSE affiliated school was booked by the police in Bankura town this morning on alleged charges of molestation of a class IX student. A section of guardians staged demonstration at the school premises alleging dearth of security surveillance at the school.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bankura on Friday ordered 14 days Judicial Custody for Akash Mondal ~ the accused non-teaching staff of St Xavier’s School ~ a residential English medium institution operating in Damodarpur locality here on Friday.

A class IX student with the school, suffered scratch injuries when a stray dog attacked her on last 15 February. She was taken to a local physician accompanied by Akash in the evening hours.

They were on a motorbike. According to the complaint: “While way back to the hostel, Akash had stopped the bike and allegedly had molested her. The frightened girl kept reserved as she was threatened under dire consequences, allegedly. “The school authority reportedly also had asked the girl and her family to hush up the matter.”

On Friday, the family received a bizarre call from the school authority that the girl was dismissed for her alleged misbehaviour. The family immediately rushed to the school and demanded explanation, which the authority refused to give, allegedly. Ranjit Singh, principal of the school told reporters that the girl was trying to create a mess in the school out of nothing and so she was asked to leave.

The family members then lodged a complaint with the Bankura PS and the accused Akash was booked accordingly.
