The Criminal Investigation Department( CID) is mulling to move court on the cash seized from the two flats reportedly owned by former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh and husband MAV Raju during its raids.
A source close to CID probing the alleged goldfor -cash scam said the move to court was necessitated to gather information from where the cash was procured after stamps of various public and private sector banks coupled with stickers of business organisations were found on the currency- that were of Rs 2000 and Rs500 denominations.
Interestingly, the CID had recovered Rs 4.50 crore from the two flats reportedly owned by former West Midnapore police super Bharati Ghosh at Madurdaha and one at Naktala owned by her husband MAV Raju.
According to complaints lodged at Netajinagar and Anandapur police stations, owners of the two flats had claimed the cash seized from the flats was not theirs but was kept at the behest of former IPS officer.
CID had already arrested Ghosh’s caretaker Rajmangol Singh, police officers, Rajsekhar Pyne, Chitta Pal, Subhankar De, Pradip Rath on charges of defrauding, extortion and disproportionate assets case.
An arrest warrant has already been issued against former IPS officer who along with her guard Sujit Mandol are still at large.Apart from the cash, CID had also recovered 1259 gm gold from the cupboard at a flat from Southern Avenue.
To which Ghosh in a voice message to a section of the media from an undisclosed place claimed the valuables the CID had recovered was the one she got on her wedding.
