An Inspector of the Crime Branch of Raipur police was on Monday put under suspension for allegedly misbehaving with women journalists outside a local court.

Inspector Gaurav Tiwari is said to have misbehaved with three media persons when they tried to talk to journalist Vinod Verma, who has been arrested in connection with the sensational sex CD case, reportedly involving a state minister.

As Verma emerged out of the court after being produced there and was being taken to the police vehicle, the women journalists tried to talk to him, but Verma tried to stop them, pushing them away physically.

Raipur Press Club President K.K. Sharma said in the wake of the incident, the executive committee of the club held an emergency meeting on Monday evening where the indecent act of the police officer was condemned.

Local journalists also marched up to the Civil Lines in the Chhattisgarh capital.

Later, on the demand of media persons, Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla put Tiwari under suspension, he added.
