The brother of BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who has been accused of raping an 18-year-old girl, was arrested for allegedly thrashing her father in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

The stated victim’s father, who was arrested last week, died in a hospital on Monday morning.

It was reported that Atul, brother of the BJP lawmaker, had assaulted the girl’s father last week because of which he had received grave injuries.

Deceased Pappu Singh had complained of abdominal pain on Sunday following which he was taken to the Unnao district hospital.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday summoned Kuldeep Singh Sengar after the woman tried to commit suicide outside the CM’s residence in Lucknow.

The rape ‘survivor’ had alleged that she had been raped by the BJP MLA and his brother. Her father was rushed to hospital from the district jail on Sunday night and died during treatment on Monday.

Following his death, the state government swung into action and ordered suspension of five cops. The policemen suspended are the station house officer (SHO) of Makhi police station in Unnao, Ashok Singh Bhadauria, the beat in-charge inspector and three constables.

The four henchmen of the MLA’s brother, accused of beating Pappu Singh, were arrested too.

A magisterial inquiry was ordered into the custodial death with Director General of Police O P Singh stating that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

The girl, who was accompanied by some female members of her family, attempted self-immolation in front of the chief minister’s residence in Lucknow on Sunday. Her self-immolation attempt was foiled by the security personnel present outside the chief minister’s residence and she was taken to the Gautampalli police station.

The girl accused the BJP MLA from Bangarmau (Unnao), Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brother of rape and harassment.
