Boy held for killing teenager in Shamli

A young boy has been arrested for killing a 17-year-old girl in Kandhala area of Shamli district on Wednesday.

It is believed to be a one-sided love story however police has given it a twist claiming that the duo were in love which was not acceptable to their families.

The deceased Soni Gangeru (17) daughter of Beera Kashyap of village Garhishyam of Shamli, was a student of class 11th of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel college. On Wednesday evening when she was returning from the college with her cousin Kajal and other girls she was stopped by a village boy Amar near the graveyard at the outskirts of the village.

He allegedly dragged her and attacked her with a sharp-edged tool used in farming.

The incident left the girls and the villagers in a state of shock who immediately called the police and narrated the incident.

According to the sources Amar wanted to marry the girl who had rejected his proposal and he used to eve tease her.

However, Shamli SP Ajay Pal Sharma said that the duo were in love with each other which was not acceptable to their families.

The boy had given the deceased mobile phones twice to remain in touch with her but came into the notice of her grandmother both the times.

Since the families were not ready for their wedlock they decided to end their lives, the SP said, adding that the accused first killed the girl and then left to commit suicide on a railway track where he was spotted and arrested.
