Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday unveiled vision document for ensuing assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh in which the party offered sops to youth, senior citizens and presented plan to combat corruption and mafias.
The vision document was unfolded by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Health and Family Welfare minister JP Nadda. Former chief ministers Prem Kumar Dhumal and Shanta Kumar were also present.
Addressing mediapersons, Arun Jaitley lashed at Congress government and said there is no parallel between the Congress government in Himachal and any other state government in the country, as the main focus of HP government during five years rule was ‘self survival’.
Without naming Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Jaitley said he tried to protect his leadership all through five years. “But he was not respected by anyone, neither the party organization nor the public.”
Jaitley said as there was weak leadership of Congress in the Centre, the CM blackmailed top leadership to continue on his post. He said such precedent was not seen in parliamentary democracy of the country. “The entire leadership was helpless in front him,” he said.
Jaitley said after coming into power, BJP would provide credible and honest government to uphold public’s faith so that it doesn’t become a butt a joke.
In its vision document, the BJP has offered to constitute helpline against corruption (Hoshiar) which would be named after forest guard, Hoshiar Singh who had allegedly committed suicide under pressure from forest mafia. A 24×7 helpline for ensuring women’s safety has also been proposed under Gudia Yojna in all women police stations.
The party has announced to provide laptops, tablets along with 1GB data to students besides creating free Wi-Fi hubs for them and scraping RUSA system in the state.
The vision document promises creation of employment opportunities for youth, opening up of new Sanskrit colleges, filling vacant posts in schools and colleges within six months.
The party proposes to link employment generation with tourism activities which includes creation of new tourist hubs and strengthening infrastructure at existing tourist places.
Besides this, BJP’s vision document announces to provide social security pension to all senior citizens above the age of 60 years and without any bar of income criteria. In addition, the party is offering free ‘Char Dham Yatra’ to them.
Besides, sops to farmers, horticulturalists for doubling their income by 2022, setting up of Gau Sewa Sadan with the help of religious organizations and curbing damage by wild animals has also been announced.
