Beleaguered former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh- who is being probed by the CID in connection with cash-for-gold scam on a Daspur(West Midnapore) P.S case, blasted the agency for carrying out vendetta against her and husband MAV Raju.
In a scathing attack on the agency, Ghosh in an audio message to a section of the media from an undisclosed place said she knew the CID inside out for being in the agency for quite some time in the past.
She had enough knowledge of the agency how it works. “ I had enough knowledge of the CID how it works. I know inside out of the agency.
Even some of the officers are still very much known to me. Is it trust-worthy that my husband- who does not know anything went to Bhawani Bhavan with the key in pocket?” former IPS officer questioned.
According to Pinaki Bhattacharya, counsel of Ghosh, the CID armed with the warrant had taken Raju with them from his residence at Naktala for marathon interrogation.
The CID sources said what they had done adhering to all the legal process and even the search of the two lockers reportedly belonging to the former IPS officer was conducted with her counsel in tow and the entire process was videographed.
Interestingly, the CID on Wednesday claimed that in course of the probe it was found that the flat at Bansdroniwhich was searched and a seizure of Rs 2 crore was made belonged to one of Raju’s aides, and the key of the flat was with Ghosh’s husband.
The agency also claimed the cash which was recovered was stashed by Sujit Mandolguard of former IPS officer who is still at large.
Interestingly, the probe is being conducted on a complaint lodged by Chandan Maji- a gold merchant at Daspur police station in West Midnapore for an alleged fraud meted out to him during demonetisation in 2016.
Six persons, all close to Ghosh have been arrested so far in connection with extortion and forgery.
