Bhakra Beas Management Board conducts cleanliness drive


As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean Indian Mission),Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) conducted various activities aimed at ensuring cleanliness.

Led by BBMB chairman, DK Sharma, BBMB installed flower waste converter machine at Shri Naina Devi Temple to avoid floral wastage. This machine will convert floral offerings into Hawan Samagri (the sacred offering used for performing yagnas)  at Shri Naina Devi Temple.

On the same pattern BBMB is also installing a food waste converter machine at Luxmi Narayan  Mandir, Sundernagar, an official spokesperson said.Apart from general cleanliness at toilets, offices, parks, colonies of all its project stations and sub-stations, BBMB also conducted special cleanliness drive at various villages which are out of BBMB’s jurisdictions, he said.

The spokesperson said during these drives, ponds, schools, hospitals and neglected areas of villages were cleaned. BBMB also constructed toilet blocks for general public to avoid open defecation in India. Waste bins & Sanitary Napkins were also distributed in the schools of these villages, he said.

A special cleanliness drive at project stations to make India polythene free were carried out. Debates and lectures were organized about Swachhta and polythene free India at BBMB offices and schools, the spokesperson said. To create awareness among general masses BBMB involved young brigade, NCC cadets and schools children of BBMB schools. They created awareness among local residents through Swachhta Rally and street plays etc.

BBMB also organized painting competitions at project stations and a special painting competition at Pavitardham Deaf & Dumb School, Ambala to aware young kids about  Swachhta importance.
