Punjab's outgoing chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has defeated Congress chief ministerial candidate Captain Amarinder Singh from his stronghold Lambi (in Muktsar) with a margin of 22,770 votes.
Another Congress heavyweight and former Punjab chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has lost to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Parminder Singh Dhindsa with 26,815 votes from Lehra (in Sangrur) assembly seat.
Congress leader, Charanjit Singh Channi defeated AAP candidate Charanjit Singh with 12,308 votes from Chakaur Sahib assembly seat.
Congress youth candidate Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has defeated SAD youth candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon with 16,212 from Giddarbaha. Also, Pargat Singh Powar (Congress) from Jalandhar Cantonment defeated SAD candidate Sarabjit Singh Makkar with 29,124 votes.
Likewise, Sushil Kumar Rinku, another Congress candidate from Jalandhar West defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Mahinder Pal Bhagat with 17,334 votes. Interestingly, in Ludhiana, the Congress is on a winning path after clinching two seats and taking a lead at two other seats (Ludhiana West and Ludhiana East). There are total five assembly seats in Ludhiana. One seat has been won by Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) candidate Balvinder Singh Bains after defeating Congress candidate Bhupinder Singh Sidhu from Ludhiana south assembly seat with 30,917 votes.
