There was a ruckus in the Krishna Nagar area of Delhi on Tuesday morning when an armed robber held guards and students hostage in a government school. The intruder, with a pistol in his possession, created chaos in and outside the school. However, the timely intervention of the police saved the situation.
A police team, along with the station house officer (SHO), reached the spot and surrounded the school after cordoning off the entire area to nab the accused. Eventually, the accused was overpowered and apprehended.
The accused has been identified as Iliyash (24), who has been arrested along with his associate namely Ishmail (27), a resident of Shastri Park.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), R Sathiya Sundaram said, at around 8.55 am, staff of the Krishna Nagar police station patrolling in civil clothes saw two boys wearing helmets suspiciously roaming in the area. Their motorcycle had no rear-side number plate.
On suspicion, the police party intercepted the bike. But as the cops removed the key from their bike, both the accused tried to flee the spot. The cops were able to apprehend Ishmail, but Iliyash managed to escape brandishing his pistol at the police team.
After a hot chase by the cops, the culprit managed to jump over to the campus of a nearby government school. On entering the school, he terrorised the guards and school students. However, the police team acted swiftly and apprehended him.
