National carrier Air India on Thursday said it has “restored” its official Twitter handle after it was hacked on Wednesday night.

According to a senior official, Air India has started investigation into the matter.

There is no cyber security threat on this handle and all necessary security measures have been taken, the official stated in a Press release.

Air India’s official Twitter handle was hacked by a Turkish group yesterday to mislead passengers by posting a slew of odd tweets.

For a while, the Air India handle even showed a tweet that said all Air India flights have been cancelled and recommended flying with Turkish Airlines.

“Last minute important announcement. All our flights have been cancelled. From now on, we will fly with Turkish Airlines,” one of the messages read.

Air India immediately took up the matter with the Twitter authorities and all malicious content was removed. Air India has one lakh forty six thousands followers on Twitter.
