Upping the ante a day after elections to Delhi Assembly were announced, the Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh Wednesday tried to enter outside Delhi CM’s residence and were stopped by Delhi police personnel deployed outside the bungalow.
The AAP leaders had marched to the Delhi CM’s residence to refute the claims made by the BJP , which has named the CM’s bungalow as ‘Sheesh Mahal’. The BJP had claimed that the Chief Minister’s residence had swimming pools and a golden commode.
Yesterday, Sanjay Singh challenged BJP to visit the CM’s residence along with media personnel, amid the BJP’s ‘sheesh mahal’ allegations and the row over it.
Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh sat on a ‘dharna’ outside the CM’s residence after being denied entry by the Police.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “…BJP used to send new videos and photos every day. Today, we came here with all the media persons. Now, the BJP is running away. A three-layer barricading has been put up. They have also put up water cannons and deployed Additional DCP here. This has been turned into a border so that the media can’t go in. Show us where the swimming pool and bar are…”
He said the BJP says that the CM’s residence was built for Rs 33 Crores. ”It is also being said that the PM house is being built for Rs 2700 Crores. We will see both the CM residence and PM house. Let the public see both..,” he pointed out
Attacking the AAP, Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva said, “Sheila Dikshit run the government for 15 years from this residence that has been allotted to Atishi, so why does Atishi want ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and when it was being allotted, why did she not take charge for 3 months? This was because it was being investigated and the CM would have to cooperate which Atishi did not want and now that the Code of Conduct has been imposed, it is being demanded… ”
He asked why was the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ not shown to media when Sanjay Singh, Satyendra Jain, and Manish Sisodia went there after getting bail or when Swati Maliwal was assaulted
”This residence (AB-17, Mathura Road) has been allotted to Atishi along with the one in Kalkaji, how many bungalows does she want?… Arvind Kejriwal did not once announce ‘Sheeshmahal’ as the CM’s residence… ,” he said.
Sachdeva further said ”Sanjay Singh should ask Rahul Gandhi why ‘Raj Mahal’ was built on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg wherein every Prime Minister, be it Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, Chandra Shekhar, VP Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Manmohan Singh and now Narendra Modi… That (PM residence) is a government-funded residence, whereas the PWD denied funding of ‘Sheesh Mahal’ so we are seeking a response on where this money come from?… Arvind Kejriwal is an illegal occupant of 5, Firoz Shah Road… “
