At least six people lost their lives and 15 others were seriously injured when a private bus rolled down the hill and fell into a gorge near Sanora on the Solan-Rajgarh road in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.
Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police Virender Thakur and Sirmaur SP Rohit Malpani confirmed six deaths, including one woman and a child. Sources, however, put the casualty figure at seven.
State Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed his heartfelt condolences with the family members of the bus accident victims in Sirmour district.
The bus was on its way to Solan from Manva area of Rajgarh in Sirmaur district when it fell into the gorge.
The police were soon informed by local villagers and the injured were rushed to the Regional Hospital in Solan, about 55 km from Shimla.
According to media reports, the rescue operation has been concluded and bodies of seven people have been recovered.
