2 Nigerians held with heroin worth over Rs 5 cr

The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has arrested two Nigerian nationals from Gurugram with one kilograms (kg) and three gram heroin valued around Rs Five Crore in international market.

While stating this on Sunday, a spokesman of Police Department said arrested accused have been identified as Yao and Okelie of Nigeria. Both are presently residing in Hastsal Vihar area of Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. They were arrested from near Indian Academy, Sirohal Road, IFFCO Chowk, Gurugram.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to smuggle heroin from South Africa, Mexico and Peru and supply in India to Delhi, Gurugram, Punjab and Haryana.

He said that a team of STF got a secret information that two foreigners were roaming near IFFCO chowk with an intention to supply heroin. Acting swiftly, STF team nabbed both the accused and recovered one kg and three gram heroin from them.

The spokesman said that the accused are being interrogated. Their arrest could lead to unearthing of other cases. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them and police is investigating the source of drug suppliers and involvement of foreign national. Others involved in this racket would be nabbed soon.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police, BS Sandhu appreciated the efforts being made by STF. He said that Police would not allow drug menace in the state and stern action would be taken against those who are engaged or supporting such evil practices.
