Panasonic launches first-of-its-kind EV charging service

Panasonic launched a first-of-its-kind smart EV charging service in India on Wednesday. Called Nymbus, the company claims, the service is a unique technology platform designed and developed to cater to the growing mobility market in India.

The electric vehicle charging service was launched at an event in New Delhi.

Manish Sharma, president & CEO, Panasonic India, said, “Our philosophy of “A Better Life, A Better World” inspired us to develop the EV charging solution. The meaning of better life and better world is better life for people and better world for communities. With the launch, Panasonic has entered the service domain in energy and eMobility . We aim to enable faster adoption of EV in the country.”

As part of the first phase, Panasonic has partnered with electric mobility service providers SmartE and qQuick, wherein it will be seen installing the EV charging service on 150 SmartE electric three-wheelers and 25 qQuick two-wheelers in the Delhi NCR region.

Atul Arya, Head, Energy Systems, Panasonic India, said the EV charging service had been conceptualised and developed in-house. Arya said, “Our charging service is currently meant for two and three wheelers, but we aim to expand that in the near future to other vehicles. We have currently deployed our solutions in Delhi NCR and aim to expand the offerings to Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Amravati in the next three years and 25 more cities (catering to) targeting approximately 1 million vehicles.”

Goldie Srivastava, co-founder and CEO, SmartE, said, “We are delighted to associate with Panasonic and have their charging solutions deployed for our electric vehicles.”

Aishwarya Kacchal, Founder, qQuick said, “We aim to establish an integrated green mobility ecosystem for India.”

The EV charging service will be seen with telematics sensors on the vehicles by which users will be able to generate real time data and reports from continuous operation. The cloud and app service will further allow EV and fleet owners to easily search and navigate the nearest charging point. As a result of this, logistical challenges will be reduced.

Arya said Panasonic brought other changes too. For example, under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, ATMs required energy in rural areas where they made good successful efforts.
