Copper prices fell by 0.27 per cent to Rs 443.15 a kg in futures trade on Tuesday as participants started reducing their exposure amid muted demand at the domestic spot market and weak overseas cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in the current month declined by Rs 1.20, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 443.15 per kg in a business turnover of 603 lots.
Along similar lines, the metal for delivery in February next year was trading lower by 95 paise, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 449.30 per kg in 37 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders at the current levels amid a weak trend in the domestic spot market and overseas influenced the prices.
Globally, the three-month delivery copper on the London Metal Exchange was trading 0.2 per cent down, at $ 6,765.50 per tonne.
