Women of Sandeshkhali demand arrest of ‘Doctor Siraj’

Women from the villages of Bermajur and Jhupkhali in Sandeshkhali took to the streets today, expressing their dissatisfaction as Sheikh Sirajuddin, also known as Doctor Siraj, who is also brother of Sheikh Shahjahan and his followers have yet not been arrested.

Police today also promulgated Section 144 CrPc in several areas. Despite the arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan, the unrest persists, and now the focus turns towards Sheikh Sirajuddin and his followers. The calm that followed the declaration of damage control in Sandeshkhali was short-lived, as discontent started once again today.

The absence of her candidacy had sparked debates within the political arena, with critics questioning the Trinamul Congress’s ability to control damages in the region. The stage is now set for Hazi Nurul Islam, a name that emerged in response to the void left by Nusrat Jahan. As his name is revealed as candidate of Basirhat constituency, yesterday the flames of protest intensified in Sandeshkhali.

Local women, frustrated with alleged injustice, continue their demonstrations, burning tires and making their grievances visible. Accusations of land encroachment against Sheikh Sirajuddin have rekindled tension, with Bermajur becoming a focal point of discontent. The situation escalated further when a new wave of violence hit the streets, prompting concerns about the overall stability of the region. As the saga unfolds, Sandeshkhali remains a hotbed of political unrest, challenging the Trinamul Congress’s ability to restore order and control damages in this politically charged landscape.
