A child lost his life after being hit by Trinamool Congress leader Abu Taher Khan’s car, according to an official on Wednesday.
The boy, named Hasim Sakar, was injured after the car hit him and he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Amiya Kumar Bera, Medical Superintendent, at Murshidabad Hospital confirmed the death of the child. However, the TMC leader said that it was due to the child’s mother not keeping a watch on him that he ran across the road due to which the accident took place.
“The child’s mother didn’t keep watch and the child was running across the road when the accident happened,” Khan said in his defense.
Meanwhile, the opposition party, BJP demanded an investigation into the incident.
“A child lost his life after being hit by TMC MP Abu Taher’s car in Murshidabad. This should be investigated!” the BJP Bengal tweeted.
According to the reports, MP Abu Taher Khan was sitting inside the car when the accident took place at Piprakhali under the Nowda police station.
As per the locals, “The child was in Piprakhali with his mother. While his mother was working in the bank, he went on the road . Suddenly, he came in front of the MP’s car and was severely wounded. Abu Taher Khan came out of the car and took the child to the hospital.”
