Voter ID card rectification to begin from 1 October

The district magistrate of Hooghly, Y Ratnakar Rao, said that the rectification and correction process of the voter card and voter list would be initiated in the second phase from 1 October.

Mr Rao said, “The Election Commission of India (ECI) is going to make the voter list flawless.

A rectification and correction process of voter card and voter list will be initiated from 1 October.

Every citizen can avail the services and get their voter identify card rectified and corrected.”

“However, the rectification and correction process of the voter identity card had started from 1 September but till now only five per cent of the total population of the state have availed the services of rectification and correction of the voter identity card.

The last date for the same which was fixed on 30 September has been extended till 15 October in the second phase of the ongoing work, the district magistrate added. In 207 panchayats, three counters have been set up for rectification and correction of voter identity card.

Moreover, in 18 blocks comprising of panchayat samities and municipalities, more than 1,000 counters have been In blocks, the authorised officials are carrying out door-to door inspection of the voter identity card and voter list.”

However, any citizen can log in to NVSP for online services for the rectification and correction of voter identity card. To avail the online services, the head of the family has to get his mobile number registered with the national voter service portal NVSP.
