Trinamul Congress leaders came down heavily on the chief minister of Chhattisgarh for advising Mamata Banerjee to observe rajdharma.
They were talking to the media in New Delhi this afternoon.
Criticising the chief minister of Chhattishgarh, Saket Gokhale, Trinamul Congress spokesperson, said in January-February, four incidents of gang-rape had taken place in Chattishgarh. “Please oil your own machine and do not intervene in the law and order situation in Bengal. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee knows her job well and people involved in the trouble in Sandeshkhali have been brought to book.”
He said on 29 January, 16-17 February, women had been gang-raped. “Neither the women commission, nor the BJP leaders raised these issues,” he said adding, “In Bengal, a section of the media is trying to translate BJP’s narratives into action.”
Mrs Sagarika Ghosh, party’s Rajya Sabha MP, said, “Now, the national commission for women is demanding President’s rule in Bengal and where were they when women were paraded naked in Manipur? she asked. The commission members were not seen in Unnao or Hathras and now they are making noises. People know that they are politically motivated.”
Mrs Sushmita Dev, party’s Rajya Sabha MP, said, “The BJP is trying to malign Mamata Banerjee before the Lok Sabha election. They have no issues at hand and so they are trying to create trouble in Sandeshkhali just to remain alive in the media. She assured that no one involved with crime will be spared and will be brought to book soon.”
