Last minute preparations are being carried out on a war footing for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kalipur ground in Arambagh.
Three helipads are being readied with Air Force helicopters carrying on frequent trail landing and take-offs from the helipads. SPG commandos are carrying on inspection of the security measures; sniffer dogs are deployed, metal detectors and scanners are put into use to trace out the presence of any suspected threat. Security is also being beefed up in and around the Arambagh town with barricades have been set up to control and restrict the movement of the massive gathering. Strict vigilance is being maintained at the entry and exits points of Arambagh town.
The state BJP president Sukanta Mazumdar, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari and other state BJP leadership are expected to visit the spot for the public meeting today late evening.
The district BJP senior leadership said the presence of the Prime Minister in Arambagh, Hooghly district is matter of great pride not only for the people of Arambagh but for the people of the entire district. The PM is expected to reach Arambagh at 14.45 hours. He will attend a government function first, it is expected that he may announce some beneficiary schemes and projects for the district and Bengal and then he will address the gathering.
The district BJP leadership said that they will put up a written request to the Prime Minister for Tarakeswar- Bishnupur double railway track, setting up of an IIT and NIT in Arambagh, construction of Khanakul bridge and implementation of Ghatal master plan.
The BJP leaders said it is a matter of great concern that most of the bus owners who previously agreed to carry the BJP workers and supporters to the venue have refused to provide the bus services for reasons unknown. The bus owners have asked us to collect the advance money.
