Take lessons from Ramkrishna, Swamiji: Mamata

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee today disapproved the state-wide agitation of unsuccessful higher secondary students demanding they be declared ‘passed’ in the Class XII board exams blaming “a section of the people for guiding them towards such an action”.

“Students were found agitating and questioning as to why they have failed the HS exams and wanting to be declared successful. I have never heard such a demand from students in my life. But this is not their fault. It is the fault of a section of the people, who are guiding these students in this direction,” said Miss Banerjee at a programme to inaugurate a museum and light-and-sound show at Dakshineswar Temple.

The light-and-sound show named as ‘Matrishakti’ depicts the history of Dakshineswar Temple. “From beginning to the end, within 20-30 minutes the entire history of the setting up of the temple has been beautifully depicted. While Swami Vivekananda campaigned on equality of all religions, the pillar or foundation was laid by Rani Rashmoni, whom we know as a religious leader, was a very strong person and the manner in which she fought against the British is a big chapter in history,” she said.

Dakshineswar Temple has been upgraded to the standard of No. 1 international destination and crores of people come here, she said, adding, “The temple is well-connected by railways, Metro and jetty and we will also set up a helipad.” She said that Rs 10 crore will be given to KMDA for setting up facilities at the newly-constructed guest house for international and national tourists. The state government has given Rs 300 crore for constructing a skywalk at Kalighat Temple, she added.

Miss Banerjee, who visited the temple while returning from Delhi further slammed “some greedy leaders” for creating riots. “Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians do not create riots. Some greedy leaders, whose brains are like dustbins, indulge in arson, violence and damage to public property,” she said.

Urging people to read the teachings of Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, Miss Banerjee said that negatively-minded people, who criticise others, have their minds filled with trash and hearts are constrained. “Money can never give rise to humanity. Criticism never leads to humanity. So, we should read Ramakrishna and Vivekananda.
